Color Of Subway Logo

Task 2 : COLOR AFFECT

Color of Subway Logo

Figure 1 : Subway Logo (now)

The original Subway logo was designed in 1968. It featured black, white and yellow colors, and was used till 2002. The new logo was introduced in 2002 with yellow and green colors and a slight change in the font which perfectly matched their slogan “eat fresh”. The use of green color in the Subway logo produces a great effect and carries a massive role in convincing consumers that Subway is an industry leader in healthy eating, and its sandwiches are a healthier alternative to traditionally fatty fast foods of KFC and McDonald’s. The yellow color, on the other hand, stands for richness, happiness, optimism and joy. (Colors of the Subway Logo, 2012)

The logo utilizes the color green, yellow and white. The contrast between “SUB”  being written in the white and “WAY” in yellow might help bring more attention to the word  “SUB” as this is the name of the actual product sold. The green outline is a rather heavy one and likely serves the purpose of making it readable when placed against a white background whilst also connoting nature and freshness as the tagline “EAT FRESH”.
